Burn Ban Notice
01/01/2022
With the arrival of a cold front later tonight and strong winds being forecasted by the National Weather Service, Jim Wells County Judge Juan Rodriguez is posting this notice of a VOLUNTARY Burn Ban for the next 48-hours.

The National Weather Service Office in Corpus Christi is forecasting sustained wind speeds of 20-30 MPH with gusts approaching 35-40 MPH on Sunday.

In addition, dewpoint values will drop in the teens and twenties and create elevated to critical fire conditions.

Any potential fire could easily spread with the dry vegetation, strong winds and dry air.  Area firefighting agencies have already been very busy over the last 24-36 hours.

Please use caution and prevent wildfires over the next 48-hours.

This is not an official Burn Ban as the county has not yet reached the threshold for drought conditions.  However, with the arrival of the previously discussed strong winds, dry air and with the dry vegetation that we have in place, residents are urged to take precautions necessary to protect lives and property.

Take care and stay warm!

Jim Wells County is a great place to spend the future
