Commissioners Regular Meeting - Monday, June 8th

Jim Wells County Commissioners Court will have a Regular Meeting at the courthouse to consider and discuss authorizing EDC Executive Director Larry Martinez to negotiate requirements, terms and conditions of possible ad valorem tax abatement proposal for new business relocating to Jim Wells County, to discuss and approve to apply for the Coronavirus Supplemental Emergency Relief Program for State, County and Local government through the office of the Governor, to discuss and consider passing Resolution for Jim Wells County to participate in the Nueces County Regional Drainage Master Plan Study, and to consider and take action to extend the Declaration of Local Disaster for Public Health Emergency pursuant to section 418.108 of the Texas Government Code.  Other agenda items listed on Commissioner's agenda will be discussed in the meeting.  The Commissioners Court Meeting will start at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 8th, 2020.

COVID-19 Mobile Test Collection - June 5th to June 8th
The National Guard, along with the Texas Military Department, the Texas Department of Emergency Management and several other state agencies have informed Jim Wells County officials that they will be conducting another round of COVID-19 testing in Alice, TX.
This COVID-19 mobile test site will be across from the Alice Public Library (401 E. 3rd St., Alice, TX 78332) on Friday 6/5/2020 and Saturday 6/6/2020 from 9AM-5PM.
To register, please call 512-883-2400 (call center open from 8-5) or visit TXCOVIDTEST.ORG. (The state will begin taking calls for Jim Wells County residents 24 hours before the event takes place.)
Testing is completely free.
Photo identification is required.
First Responders and Healthcare Workers may receive testing even if they have no symptoms.
All other persons who are not First Responders or Healthcare Workers will be asked a series of health questions when they call the number above or visit the website. If it’s determined you require testing, you will be provided with an access code and an appointment date and time.
Tests are conducted by appointment only! You MUST have an appointment to gain access to the testing site. Those who drive up without an appointment will not be able to gain access.
