Jim Wells County News & Announcements
COVID-19 VACCINATION WILL BE ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 30, 2021
01/28/2021

COVID-19 VACCINATION EVENT TO BE HELD IN JIM WELLS COUNTY THIS SATURDAY, JANUARY 30TH, 2021 AT THE JIM WELLS COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS.

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice has been named a COVID-19 Vaccination Hub by the State of Texas to serve the Jim Wells County community and surrounding areas. In an effort to make the COVID-19 vaccine more accessible to nearby residents, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice humbly accepted the responsibility of fulfilling this need.

The facility has received another shipment of close to 1,000 Pfizer vaccines to distribute to those who meet the criteria for Phase 1A or Phase 1B as outlined by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
This event will be held at the Jim Wells County Fairground on Saturday, January 30th, 2021.  Vaccines will be on a first come, first serve basis to those who meet the above criteria and are over the age of 18; no pre-registration is required for this event.

Gates will again open at 3AM and vaccines will begin to be administered at 8AM.  Residents are urged to have great patience for the nurses, hospital/medical staff, county and city leaders and all the wonderful volunteers who will work to make the process go as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

This event is only for those individuals who are needing/wanting to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The CHRISTUS Spohn Team along with county and city leaders are working to set up additional avenues and ways for those who are unable to wait in the vaccination lines and to those who may be homebound.  We know and understand that the vaccine is highly sought after by many.  Our office is working with local clinics as well as with our state and federal partners to try to get more allocations into the county so that we may work out all the logistics necessary to get vaccines to our more rural communities and populations and to get them administered as quickly and efficiently as possible.  We still remain at the mercy of the state though, in waiting for those allocations to happen.

What we have received now, and so far, is only the beginning.  As we move forward in time, more vaccines will arrive and become available, and the process is expected to become easier and expedited more quickly.  For now, the demand is over-stressing the supply.
